Schoodic Blend is a dark, rich soil made from carefully composted cow manure and peat humus. The cow manure for the Schoodic Blend, that is composted in Maine, comes from Pineland Farms Natural Meats  in Aroostook County Maine. Their beef herd is raised without the use of antibiotics or growth hormones. The composted manure is combined with aged peat humus, a unique carbon source that is rich in organic material, lignins and tannins. The result is a naturally light-weight, easy-to-use soil. Available in 1 cu. ft. bag.

The original "seafood" compost. Made with chitin-rich lobster blended with peathumus and compost. The result is a dark-brown, complex soil that drains well and is ideal for conditioning beds and borders. Great for vegetable gardens. One of our best sellers! Available in 1 cu. ft. bag.

Penobscot Blend is our popular all-purpose planting mix. A blend of compost and peat, it is ideal for planting annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees or conditioning gardens, beds and borders. Penobscot Blend is made with fully matured salmon, blueberry and mussel compost (2/3) and sphagnum moss peat (1/3). Available in 1 cu. ft. bag.

Monhegan Blend Black Earth is an exceptionally rich blend of naturally composted barks and fine sand. The result is a light, easy-to-use, all-purpose organic soil that is ideal for top dressing lawns or as a general purpose soil amendment. Available in 1 cu. ft. bag.

Fundy Blend is the ideal top-dressing for roses and perennials. We combine some of our limited supply of very old, humified birch and maple bark with partially humified hemlock bark and a very rich compost made of kelp solids and sphagnum moss peat. The result is an almost black humus that is rich in organic matter with all the added benefits of both compost and kelp. Available in 1 cu. ft and 2 cu. ft. bags.

Cobscook Blend is a richly textured all-purpose gardening soil. Because it is made with compost, it gives you the benefit of requiring less frequent watering and feeding. Because of its water retaining qualities, it is not recommended for summer annuals like geraniums and petunias. We suggest it as an amendment for planting azaleas, rhododendrons and blueberry bushes. Its fine texture also makes it a good top-dressing for new lawns. Available in 1 cu. ft and 2 cu. ft. bags.

Bar Harbor Blend is our organically approved, all-purpose potting soil. It is a rich, dark brown and full bodied, designed for re-potting house plants, planting hanging baskets, window boxes and all containers. Bar Harbor Blend is made with lobster and aspen bark compost, long staple horticultural grade sphagnum peat moss and perlite. Like all compost-based soils, this too requires less watering.
